The trench coat. It’s a staple item that should to be a part of everyone’s wardrobe; they are always being redesigned and changed in accordance with changing trends over time, changing cut, colour and appliqué. But it is the simple beige coloured, double breasted, tortoise shell buttoned trench that you will find most adaptable and a part of any collection weather it be Lanvin, Burberry or even from David Jones. Now because we all cant afford to be British models, jumping in technicolour I had not been able to attain a trench coat; that is until one miss Pamela Ball, (my best friends awesome politically incorrect grandmother) gave me free range to take coats from one of her thousands of wardrobes as I see fit. And this is where old trenchy came in…
This winter is a time for layering to stay warm, which makes the trench coat perfect. It is waterproof as the initial design was a stylish rain coat so it can be thrown on top of an outfit and taken on off upon arrival of a party/uni/work/meeting with Karl Lagerfeld. They are unisex, as you can see me and my little sister/photographer frang wearing them…
We have layered using blues and greys as they work well with both the beige colour of the jacket and the colour of our ohhh so anglo Christian eyes. Frang is wearing roc boots, country road dress, vintage mens shirt, beanie from sports girl. I (alex) am wearing my valentino shirt (from anglicare depot), hard yakka pants and denim jacket.
So go, find your trench! You can afford to spend a little more as it will last you for life and you can wear it with everything. Find your style, layer it up. Have a nice winter.
